Rail mounted container gantry crane  (RMG) are container loading and unloading equipment that runs on rails. They are mainly used in ports, railway freight yards and container yards for container loading, unloading, handling and stacking operations.which can effectively improve the efficiency and safety of container stacking, handling and sorting.

The rail mounted container gantry crane  (RMG) consists of a main girder, rigid and flexible gantry legs, traveling trolley, hoisting mechanism, crane traveling mechanism, electrical system, and operator cab. Based on yard operation requirements, it can be configured as a single-cantilever or double-cantilever model by extending the cantilever in the single-leg or double-leg direction, or as a cantilever-free model without extension. The selection of cantilever-free, single-cantilever, or double-cantilever configurations is determined by site conditions, container storage/handling processes, and the type of vehicles (container trucks or rail cars) used for loading/unloading.

Product Features

① The lifting speed is relatively low while the trolley travel speed is relatively high. Based on container yard requirements, the lifting height of rail-mounted gantry cranes is determined for stacking three containers high with four-foot clearance or stacking four containers high with five-foot clearance. Since the lifting height is not high, the lifting speed is correspondingly low. However, container yards typically extend a considerable distance along the track direction. To achieve a certain level of productivity, the trolley travel speed is set relatively high.

②Trolley travel speed can be determined based on the girder span and cantilever length at both ends. When the span and cantilever length are small, the trolley travel speed and productivity requirements can be set relatively low. When the span is large and the cantilever length is also significant, the trolley travel speed can be increased accordingly to meet productivity demands.

③ When the span exceeds 40m, high-speed operation of the main crane may cause lateral deviation due to differing running resistances on both sides. A synchronization device is therefore installed to maintain synchronized running speeds of both sides through the electrical control system.

④ To meet higher operational demands, the electrical drive control system employs thyristor DC or AC speed regulation drive control systems to achieve superior speed regulation and control performance. The electrical control system may also employ conventional AC eddy current speed regulation or AC stator voltage regulation drive control systems. For high-speed crane travel mechanisms, thyristor-based DC or AC speed control systems with electric brakes, or AC stator voltage regulation systems are typically used. This avoids the conventional method of relying solely on mechanical brakes during travel/stop operations, which could cause significant impact on the entire structure.
